These oversized high quality enamel mermaid pins are more than cute ornaments — they were also designed to act as planetary charms. Each mermaid is inspired by one of the seven celestial bodies/deities recognized in traditional astrology. As such, her design incorporates colors, symbols, and sea creatures that resonate with her patron planet. Additionally, each Celestial Mermaid has an affirmation inspired by their respective planetary patron engraved on the back, to help bring the blessings of that planet into your life!

This Mermaid’s planetary patron is the celestial body and deity, Luna. Known in astrology as the Night Sect Luminary, Luna rules over the physical body, the emotions, and the bridge that connects the two. She rules both physical and emotional needs, nourishment, comfort, care, nurturing, manifestation, fluctuation, change, movement, good perception, faithful spouses, mothers, and infants. The Picatrix, the most well-known of the planetary grimoires, says that Luna presides over the “turning away from evil so that one may be well spoken of by [the] people.” And that she delights in “happy and beautiful things; thoroughly studying high sciences such as astrology, magick, and other secret sciences.” The Picatrix goes on to say that Luna abhors iniquity and is just in all her works.

Luna’s planetary day is Monday, and her duty is to nurture the physical body, ensuring that we have what we need to function, heal, and grow as we care for ourselves and others. She is also tasked with maintaining the ever-fluctuating inner realm of the subconscious, dreams, and emotions, as well as the habits, moods, and memories that flow therefrom. She rules birth and caretaking of all kinds because she nurtures and protects the divine spark of spirit by embodying it in the flesh as it is made manifest in the material realm.

Luna’s celestial affirmation reads: “I nurture and protect my heart, body, mind and spirit; I am compassionate with myself and others as I ensure that my emotional and physical needs are met.”

NOTE: Luna is a glitter pin! As a fun bit of visual symbolism, both Sol and Luna — the day and night sect luminaries — have glitter on their tails and on the sun/moon behind them.
